Careers in Polymer Science: Beyond academia

Wednesday 29th October 2014

Rutherford Appleton Lab, Oxfordshire, OX11 0QX

If you are a PhD student or post-doc working in polymer, soft matter or colloid science and want to hear about job options other than following the steps of your supervisor at University, please come and join us for this one-day event on the 29th of October (Rutherford Lab, Didcot, near Oxford).

The event is organised by the Polymer Physics Group (IOP/RSC) and will feature speakers from a range of professions: not only industrialists (in personal care products, agrochemical, paints, pharma) but also people in less obvious ‘polymer’ jobs: publishers, patent attorneys, policy-makers, science journalists, funding agencies etc.

Speakers will come and share tips and personal experience on their own career path and day-to-day activities in a relaxed format, which we hope will foster discussion and exchange.

Registration fee is only £15 for the day. Free accommodation in the area will be offered on a first-come first-served basis (giving priority to more distant students).

Further information and a link for registration is available at this website
